Eagles on the nest

Well, what a weekend! Not only was the weather beautiful but the eagles were very active at the nest. Many thanks for posting the videos. I still find the breadth of eagle vocalizations amazing--each with a different meaning and circumstance for use. I must also comment on the value of being able to see the bird vocalize and observe its postures and gestures as it does so. Enjoy the evening and keep posted.

Saw an adult eagle on the nest this morning when I tuned in around 6:45. Sitting quietly on a branch closer to the camera & on our left, not a usual position but one I've seen the babes on before. I'm sure someone will have a video of it..with all the video being captured - you hardly need individual bloggers any more.

It was great to see both Eagles again this morning. They both entered and left the nest silently. Here is the video of the visit this morning. Have a wonderful day

What a wonderful way to start the day to see two eagles fussing with the nest this morning. Then one went to the branch closest to the camera and the other fussed for a little longer then flew out over the water. I hope to see them around more often.

Another visit this morning - 6:42AM.

I must ask the question Patrick, is there a reason why someday we see colour at the nest, and others, its merely black and white? Maybe a separate switch for colour?

Thank you for all you do Patrick, and thanks to BRI for bringing the keenest, most beautiful nest to the Internet.

Hi Patrick

I have been following the Eagles for over a year now and really enjoy all of the action. I even have my brother-in-law linked. It is so wonderful to be able to see the Eagles and thankful that there is someone like you that does this.

How can I link to the latest video? I didn't see it in the blog.

Thanks

Rosalie

Patrick,

The other day you said you hadn't reinstalled the IR bulb. It sure looks like we are getting an IR image right now and it's 11 AM

Hi Bill, the camera is supposed to switch automatically from IR to full spectrum color. It appears that there may be a problem with the automatic switch or the light sensor...we'll have to investigate at a later time. For now we should hope for good light to trigger the switch to color. Yes, This is a little bit annoying.
Best,
Patrick

The 15 second cam isn't working. Usually we've no problem viewing that site, and it's better than live video when we are just keeping an eye on the coming/going of the eagles.

Is it a program or switch?

Thank you much,

GG

I have been watching the eagle cam for about three years now and was as disappointed as everyone else when the third chick died last season and our parents failed to mate successfully this season. But here's a reason for hope! In September we took our boat up river near our cottage in Maine and passed the location of what we expected to be an abandonned eagle nest; one which produced eaglets for about 10-12 years in succession before being abandonned and then subsequently blown down during the Patriot's day storm last year. Imagine our surprise when we observed the nest had been rebuilt - and a few seconds later we spotted a juvenile perched in the tree nearby. And then we heard and saw another juvenile overhead! So here's to our webcam couple for a successful breeding in 2009. I'll be watching along with you all.

Well we sure got pounded by wind & rain last night and it appears the nest cam took a little hit as I have blue screen this morning. I have audio, just in case I want to listen to the wind some more. A question Patrick....IF you knew the weather was going to be severe could you shut the cam off. Does it work that way? Turn off -turn on....Is it any help to the cam to be off when bad weather strikes?

Watching the nest in high wind is to me like being on a boat and being twisted and rocked to an uncomfortable state. But I HAVE to watch...if only for a minute.

Good luck with the cam

Does the blue screen mean you have to physically go to the area to fix something? (Patrick...bring snacks to eat along the way)
