House Finch Cam Live!

Well in an effort to provide you with images of nesting birds, I have set-up a webcam on a nesting house finch at my house with a dedicated blog.

These birds are common around our houses and we can learn a lot about them and bird behavior from this camera.

18:29 - Found a nesting bird.

Thanks, Wing. I also have House Finches but have never seen inside a nest. Can't wait to watch the nesting process unfold.

Whoops, no Anonymous posting offered so I could not get this to publish on the Finch blog.

Did the eagles drop and egg lately? I've been tuning in for the past couple weeks and haven't even seen one of them..today they've been there forever : ) That would be crazy but at least they wouldn't get snowed on!

OK, what's going on with these two eagles...both at the nest now, mom snuggled down in nesting position and dad tidying up around her...dang, if they don't know how to drive us all nuts! Will be looking in on all the other wonderful cams, Wing, but I cannot keep my eyes off the eagles!
Thanks so much for every opportunity you have given us...the natural world is so much more interesting and exciting than anything on the stupid TV!

5/11/08 8:00pm EDT Logged in to a wonderful surprise. Both Eagles on the nest...spoke to soon Dad just flew off. Oh well Mom laying so nicely & comfortably in the nest bowl. Wish she was on chicks! Well I hope all the Mother Bloggers are taking it easy like her today! 8:12pm She's up and looking around. I wonder if she got breakfast in bed this morning! Dad's back moving sticks around as if there preparing for eaglets. Mom goes back to laying in nest bowl. This seems like March behavior? Very strange? There spending alot of time on the nest these last couple of days. Dad departs again, Love to see them catch the wind when they take off, wings straight out, so graceful.

May 11 EDT 8:12 PM Mom stands up. I don’t think she likes be left alone. After some crow sounds, dad comes back and moves sticks around. Mom sits in the bowl again.

8:16 Dad flies away again.

8:25 Dad back on the nest with mom still in the nest bowl. Now the screen has gone black!!! Has the night camera failed? What a time for it to do it. Maybe someone wanted to give them a little privacy.

5/11, approx. 6:30- 7:30AM, eagle on the nest. Had to go to work.
1:58PM, Mom on Y, 2:00-2:07PM, calling, 2:09-4:48PM, I don't know if anyone saw this, but I did and was fascinated. Mom climbed way to the top of the left of the Y branch, and if you had not seen it, you would never have known she was there, calling, with raven cries in the distance. Just the tip of her tail was visible. Then, I heard an eagle cry, and she flew off.
5:45, what a beautiful closeup of the nest!
7:57, Mom in bowl, and Dad on side, Mom shifts to get comfy, Dad fixes the nest around her. 8:06, looks like she is biting his rear end! Then, Dad's off! Huh? Fly by, Mom out of bowl, 8:11, hear a raven, Dad's back, fixes nest, Mom back in bowl, Dad's off again at 8;14. Mom still in bowl.

Mom did spend the night but there was no night vision. Please consider turning the light back on as long as there is a chance she might be there overnight. It really helps to document their behavior, which has been so unpredictable this year. THANK YOU, WING.

IN regard to the night vision--I believe that the infrared illuminator had blown out a bulb, which means that we will have to climb the tree and replace the bulb at some point. We won't want to do this until August or September when the birds are away from the nest.

May 12th

Found eagle on nest at 3:30 pm. Sounds like dad.

Looks as though camera has frozen again and no sound. Maybe it is my computer. The camera does seem to be pointing higher and higher. The nest isn’t visible now.

Could this be the miracle that only Mother Nature could do? I have been watching the eagles stay with the nest constantly. I'm almost afraid to think it could be, because I like others don't want a broken heart. This eagle pair has amazed me for the last two years. Wing do you think there is a possible egg or two in the nest? Deb in Pa.

I am unable to open a live cam for viewing the finch nest. I can get the eagle cam and the loon cam just fine, but I don't find a "Watch Live" option to click on to view the finch cam.
Can someone give me advice?
